Collinite Fleetcut 631, Color-Up 415 and 435 Streak Fixer: A Marine Fiberglass Correction-to-Maintenance Workflow
Marine and fiberglass surfaces need a product choice based on the condition in front of you, not simply the amount of gloss you want to create. Collinite’s Fleetcut Polishing Compound 631, Color-Up Compound Pre-Wax Cleaner 415, and 435 Streak Fixer cover different points in a practical correction-to-maintenance workflow. Together, they help detailers decide whether a surface needs substantial correction, lighter pre-wax cleaning, or a quick maintenance treatment.
Start with the condition of the surface
For heavily neglected fibreglass or gel coat, begin by assessing oxidation, scratches, swirls, stains, sanding marks, and compound haze. If the defects are moderate to heavy, Fleetcut 631 is the correction product in this system. It combines compound and polish in one product, cutting and refining in a single step. Its nano abrasives provide fast cutting action while leaving a clean, mirror-quality finish.
Fleetcut 631 for heavy correction
Collinite Fleetcut Polishing Compound 631 is intended for marine detailing on fibreglass and gel coat surfaces. It removes oxidation, minor scratches, swirls, stains, and compound haze, and can remove sanding marks above 1,000 grit. That makes it suitable when a neglected fibreglass surface needs more than a light cleansing step.
Use a rotary for heavy neglect or a DA polisher for mild neglect and maintenance. Fleetcut also contains nourishing oils that condition the surface while correcting. After correction, it improves wax bond and durability, preparing the surface for easier application of Collinite 925. Coverage is 250-500 square feet per bottle, and the product is supplied in a 16 fl oz size.
Its limitations are important. Fleetcut is exclusively for marine detailing on fibreglass and gel coat. Do not use it on anodised aluminium, clear coat paint, plastic, or glass. Choosing it for the right surface is part of the correction process.
Color-Up 415 for lighter cleansing before wax
When the finish does not require heavy correction, Collinite Color-Up Compound Pre-Wax Cleaner 415 is the lighter pre-wax step. It is an economical, light-duty paint-cleansing compound that removes surface contamination before follow-up wax protection.
Color-Up can remove film, mild oxidation or discoloration, brake dust, oil, grease, tar, bugs, stains, and more. It is suitable for clear coat and single-stage paint, painted and non-painted metal, and fibreglass. The product brightens surface clarity and deepens shine while preparing the finish for wax. This preparation can improve wax bond, spread, and protective durability.
For Indian detailers working across vehicles and marine surfaces, this wider surface compatibility makes Color-Up useful when the finish needs cleaning and preparation rather than aggressive correction. It is clear coat safe and can be used by hand or with a DA polisher. Follow it with one of Collinite’s last-step waxes, such as No. 845, 476, or 915. Color-Up contains no waxes or silicones.
Do not use Color-Up on glass, rubber, or trim. It is not a substitute for Fleetcut when heavy oxidation, deeper defects, or sanding marks above 1,000 grit require correction.
435 Streak Fixer for ongoing maintenance
Once a fibreglass surface has been corrected and protected, maintenance should address the marks that return between full correction sessions. Collinite 435 Streak Fixer is designed for black streaks, tough stains, and fresh water spots on fibreglass surfaces. It removes these marks in one step and leaves a fast-bonding polymer layer of surface protection after each application.
Its spray-on use follows a simple two-towel process, making it practical for regular maintenance. It restores the original appearance of fibreglass surfaces quickly and is safe to use over existing Collinite marine wax without stripping that protection. It is also suitable for fibreglass, metal, and painted surfaces.
435 Streak Fixer is not an oxidation remover. If heavy oxidation is present, use Collinite Marine Cleaner 920 or Fleetcut 631 instead. This distinction prevents a maintenance product from being treated as a correction compound.
A practical sequence
- Use Fleetcut 631 when moderate to heavy oxidation, scratches, swirls, stains, haze, or sanding marks need correction on fibreglass or gel coat.
- Use Color-Up 415 when contamination or mild oxidation needs cleaning before wax on an approved paint, metal, or fibreglass surface.
- Use 435 Streak Fixer between corrections for black streaks, tough stains, and fresh water spots while retaining existing Collinite marine wax.
This approach keeps each product in its proper role: Fleetcut for substantial marine correction, Color-Up for lighter pre-wax preparation, and 435 Streak Fixer for repeat maintenance.
