Windshield Polishing and Glass Coating in India: Remove Water Spots and Protect for the Monsoon

Glass is the part of a car people notice last and depend on most. Hard water spots, road film and wiper scratches do not just look bad: they scatter light, smear in the rain and reduce visibility when you most need it. This guide covers how to clean, polish and coat automotive glass properly, which products do which job, and the safety points that matter when you polish glass.

What goes wrong with glass

Over time glass collects acid rain spots, hard water spots, road film, stubborn bird stains and, on the inside, the greasy film that builds up on interior glass. Salt and road dust that bind to the windscreen wipers can also leave fine surface scratches. Step 1: Clean the glass properly

Always start with a clean surface. A good glass cleaner removes insects, silicone, grease and other contaminants without smearing.

• The GYEON Q²M Glass cleans all automotive glass, removes oily residue, leaves a smudge-free finish, is safe for interior materials like leather, vinyl and alcantara, and does not affect rain repellent you have already applied.
• The Angelwax Vision Glass Cleaner is a ready-to-use cleaner that removes insects, silicone and other contaminants, is safe on tinted and film-covered glass, and leaves a prepared surface for Angelwax H2GO rain repellent.
• The Nanolex Glass Cleaner removes dirt, grease, insects and waxes with a streak-free finish and has anti-fogging properties.
• The GreenZ Glass Cleaner is diluted 1:5, sprayed onto dry glass after washing the vehicle, then buffed with a microfiber cloth. It leaves a surface ready for a glass coating and does not damage gaskets.

Use a dedicated glass towel such as the GreenZ Premium Glass Towel, a flat-woven, tight-weave microfiber made to leave glass streak-free without lint.

Step 2: Polish when cleaning is not enough

If water spots or light scratches remain after cleaning, glass needs a polish. Cerium oxide glass polishes are made for this. The GreenZ Glass Nano Polish and the CarPro Ceriglass Glass Polish both use cerium oxide with mild abrasives to remove acid rain spots, hard water spots, road film, bird stains and interior glass film, and both can remove fine to medium scratches. The Nanolex Glass Polish is a water-based polish with a citric acid and micro-abrasive formula that removes fine scratches, grease and residues, and prepares the glass to bond with a Nanolex glass sealant.

By hand or by machine. Hand polishing is effective on mild water spots, and the GreenZ Glass Polish Hand Pad is a wool applicator for this. For widespread, severe water spots or light scratches, use a rotary or dual-action polisher with a glass buffing pad such as the Lake Country Rayon Glass Cutting Pad or the CarPro Glass Rayon Polishing Pad (CarPro recommends a rotary for best results). Safety rules for glass.

• Keep the glass wet while you work. Carry a spray bottle of water and spray the glass often. Heat build-up can break the glass if it is not controlled.
• Work a small area at a time with a back-and-forth motion.
• Check the label first. CarPro Ceriglass is not for use on aftermarket window tint, or on painted or coated glass.

Step 3: Protect with a glass coating

A glass coating makes water bead and roll off, which improves visibility and reduces the need for wipers. Choose by how long you want it to last and how the car is used.

• The GYEON Q² VIEW EVO is a dedicated long-lasting rain repellent. GYEON states it remains on the most intensely used windscreen for up to 24 months with undiminished water repellency, and on side windows for up to 36 months. Its main aim is safety: a clearer view in difficult road conditions.

It creates an optically flat surface that helps keep glass cleaner for longer, and water turns into micro-droplets that bead off, even at low speeds, without affecting wiper performance.
• The Nanolex Urban Glass Sealant is a solvent-based, fully transparent, highly hydrophobic coating that protects glass against water, oil and grime and improves visibility in bad weather, reducing the need for wipers and screen wash.

A simple glass routine

1. Clean the glass thoroughly with a glass cleaner.
2. Polish if spots or light scratches remain, keeping the glass wet.
3. Clean again so the surface is perfectly prepared.
4. Apply the glass coating, following the product’s instructions.
5. Maintain with a glass cleaner that does not affect the coating.
