Car Detailing Starter Kit for India: What to Buy First (and What Can Wait)
New studios often over-buy. The better approach is to build your kit stage by stage, following the order a job takes, and to add products as the services you sell grow. Below is a practical starter kit for a studio that wants to offer washing, decontamination, paint correction and protection. It is part of our complete guide to starting a detailing business. Prices change, so check each product page for the current price.
Stage 1: Wash and dry
- WORK STUFF Detailing Wash Bucket & Grit Guard: a 20L HDPE bucket with a grit guard that helps keep wash water clean.
- WORK STUFF STORM Wash Mitt: a high-absorbency, delicate microfiber mitt, 22 by 18 cm, made in Korea.
- WORK STUFF Beast Drying Towel: a plush 1100 gsm drying towel, 70 by 50 cm, safe for any paint.
- Shampoo: GYEON Q²M Bathe is a highly concentrated pH-neutral shampoo that does not affect the protection already on a car. The GreenZ Foam Shampoo is a professional foam shampoo for pressure washers with a foam lance, diluted 1:20 for a foam gun or 1:128 for the two-bucket method.

Stage 2: Wheels and details
- Mothers Wheel Brush for wheel faces and fender wells, and the Mothers Brake Dust Brush, whose round head fits between spokes.
- Mothers Detail Brush Set: two brushes, so one stays inside and one outside the car.
Stage 3: Decontamination
Chemical decontamination first makes claying shorter and reduces the risk of marring. Use the GYEON Q²M Iron REDEFINED for iron fallout and brake dust, the GYEON Q²M Tar REDEFINED for tar spots, and the GYEON Q²M ClayLube REDEFINED with clay for what remains. Our claying guide explains the process.
Stage 4: Correction
Machines. A dual-action polisher is the safe choice to learn on. The Rupes LHR 15 Mark III Random Orbital Polisher uses a 15 mm orbit and a 5 inch plate and is described as the most popular choice among detailing professionals. The Flex Roto Random Orbital Polisher XFE 7-15 150 is a free-spinning dual-action machine with a 15 mm orbital throw. For tight areas, the GreenZ Mini Dual Action Polisher DM550 is a compact 550W machine with 3-inch spot pads and a 12 mm orbit, weighing 1.9 kg. See our guide to polishing machines and how to use one safely.

Compounds and polishes. Choose by the severity of the defect. The Malco EPIC range is a clear example: the Malco EPICâ„¢ Heavy Duty Compound removes sand scratches up to P1500, the Malco EPICâ„¢ Medium Duty Compound up to P2500, and the Malco EPICâ„¢ Finishing Polish gives the final gloss. If you plan to apply ceramic coatings, the GreenZ XtremeCut Compound 350 and GreenZ Ultra Finish Polish 4500 are formulated with zero silicon fillers and a low-oil formula so the coating can bond to clean paint.
Pads. Three Lake Country CCS pads cover most jobs: the Lake Country CCS Orange Foam Pad for scratch and defect removal, the Lake Country CCS Green Polishing/Finishing AIO Foam Pad for one-step products, and the Lake Country CCS Black Foam Pad for final finishing and applying waxes and sealants.
Stage 5: Protection
Match the product to what you will sell. The Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax 845 is a liquid carnauba wax with up to 6 months of protection. The Nanolex Si3D Ceramic Coating is a polysilazane-based ceramic coating where only one layer is needed. GYEON, Angelwax and others cover coatings for glass, wheels, trim and leather. Learn each product’s process before you offer it, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions strictly.

Interior
Add the GYEON Q²M LeatherCleaner Natural for cleaning leather, and the GYEON Q² Leather Shield EVO if you plan to offer leather protection. Always check which leather types a product suits.
Microfiber and consumables
Microfiber is easy to overlook and quick to ruin. Read our guide on microfiber towel types and look after your towels properly: wash them with a microfiber wash product, never use fabric softener, and let them dry naturally.
What can wait
- Specialised coatings for services you do not yet sell.
- Extra machines: one good dual-action polisher is enough to start.
- PPF tools and film, until you have PPF training and demand for it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to start a car detailing studio?
Build the kit stage by stage in the order a job takes: wash and dry, wheels and details, decontamination, correction, then protection. Add products as the services you sell grow.
Which polisher should a beginner start with?
A dual-action polisher is the safe choice to learn on. The guide lists the Rupes LHR 15 Mark III and the Flex Roto XFE 7-15 150, and a compact option for tight areas, the GreenZ Mini Dual Action Polisher DM550.
How do I choose a compound and polish?
Choose by the severity of the defect. In the Malco EPIC range, for example, the Heavy Duty Compound removes sand scratches up to P1500, the Medium Duty up to P2500, and the Finishing Polish gives the final gloss.
Why do the stages come in this order?
Chemical decontamination first makes claying shorter and reduces the risk of marring, correction then prepares the paint, and protection goes on last.
Should a new studio buy everything at once?
No. New studios often over-buy. Start with the stages you will sell, check each product page for the current price, and learn each product's process before you offer it.
